WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL LAB TESTING?

Functional lab testing evaluates root cause mechanisms like nutrient deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, stealth infections, and toxicity

GI MAP STOOL TEST

Lab phone number: 877-485-5336
Purpose of Test

The GI-MAP stool test looks for overgrowths of bacteria, parasites, worms, fungi and viruses.
The panel includes opportunistic organisms, normal flora, parasites, and fungi. DNA/PCR techniques also allow for the measurement of antibiotic resistance genes and virulence factors that contribute to pathogenicity. These organisms can be at the root cause for many chronic conditions.
The test also tests for inflammation and leaky gut along with mucosal immune markers.

Cost Price of Test: $359 Cash Price (Please put your credit card number on the requisition. If the price is not on the requisition – please fill in this price). The price is subject to change if you are re-testing in the future. Depending on your insurance company, this may be covered and the cost under insurance would be $179. It is not in network with Medicare and commercial insurance plans.

ORGANIC ACID TEST

Purpose of Test
Organic acids are metabolic intermediates that are produced in pathways of central energy production, detoxification, neurotransmitter breakdown, or intestinal microbial activity. Marked accumulation of specific organic acids detected in urine often signals a metabolic inhibition or block. The metabolic block may be due to a nutrient deficiency, an inherited enzyme deficit, toxic build-up or drug effect. Several of the biomarkers are markers of intestinal bacterial or yeast overgrowth.

The Organix® Comprehensive nutritional test profile provides vital member information from a single urine specimen. This organic acids nutritional test is valuable for determining:

  • Functional vitamin and mineral status
  • Amino acid insufficiencies like carnitine and NAC
  • Oxidative damage and antioxidant need
  • Phase I & Phase II detoxification capacity
  • Functional B-complex vitamin need
  • Neurotransmitter metabolites
  • Mitochondrial energy production
  • Methylation sufficiency
  • Lipoic acid and CoQ10 status
  • Markers for bacterial and yeast overgrowth

Cost Price of Test: $220 Cash Price (Please put your credit card number on the requisition. If the price is not on the requisition – please fill in this price). The price is subject to change if you are re-testing in the future. You may not be billed right away for the test as the lab bills on a monthly cycle. Depending on your insurance company, this may be covered and the cost under insurance would be $175. The lab is in network with most insurance companies except for the following: Medicare, Aetna, Humana, Principal, Kaiser, Tufts, BCBS Federal Employee Program (FEP)

DUTCH HORMONE TEST

Lab Phone Number: 503-687-2050
Purpose of Test

Understanding what your hormones are doing is highly useful information. By taking multiple samples throughout the day, you can get a more accurate measure of your sex hormones and cortisol patterns.

This test looks at your adrenal hormones (if your physician orders this panel) and/or sex hormones. It is valuable because it looks at the metabolites of these hormones to determine if you are at risk of certain diseases.

It also looks at how you excrete these hormones in the body. This test is valuable in determining the cause of your fatigue and hormonal imbalances.

Cost Price of Test: $250 USD for both panels (Please put your credit card number on the requisition. If the price is not on the requisition – please fill in this price). The price is subject to change if you are re-testing in the future.

ZRT SALIVA TEST

Purpose of Test

Saliva testing is used for measuring hormones like cortisol, estrogen and testosterone, and its non-invasive collection asks members to spit into a plastic tube. This sampling method allows members to collect saliva at home at specific times, which is important for accurately measuring hormone levels.

Why do we test hormones in saliva? Steroid hormones in the bloodstream are 95-99% bound to carrier proteins, and in this form are unavailable to target tissues. Saliva testing measures the amount of hormone available to target tissues – the bioavailable amount. For this reason, saliva testing better relates to specific symptoms of excess or deficiency, and is a good option for monitoring hormone therapy.
